This listing is for one original genuine old-stock Fender waterslide decal for the Fender "CORONADO I" Guitar.
(script font version)
Part number : 061242 is displayed on the back of the decal along with other numbers which may be printer's job numbers etc.
The decal is noted as a Type-C transfer which was made by the Meyercord Corp. in Los Angeles
Based upon part numbers, we believe this style preceded and alternate version, which is P/N:  061259.
U.S. Patent number 3,143,028 and Patent Pending are included in the decal's text.
The noted patent dates to 1964.
Condition is as shown in the photographs. This is the design the buyer will receive.
Also, bear in mind that the image is face down on the sheet and that -Coronado I-
will appear correctly with gold outlines and black fill once applied.
The Fender decals we are offering have been privately archived for nearly 40 years.
(since about 1980), and we are pleased to offer them to
serious collectors & restorers who need correct decals for their important restorations.
At the time this decal was packed away,
the screen print shop which had been active in the Los Angeles area for several decades
was going through a consolidation with another shop at a larger location.
The owners didn?t want to pay to move all their old files to the new location,
so to the landfill it all goes?
literally tons of vintage files were destroyed.
Luckily, an artist in that first shop, saved some of the shop's historic work, and
a small percentage, including a handful of various Fender samples,
was rescued for posterity and has been carefully stored ever since.
Before listing, we asked a local guitar expert to look at these Fender pieces.
He checked his resources
and confirmed that they are all correct (of course!).
He also noted that the face-up decals are all 1960-s  (pre 1970's) production,
and that The face-down decals were all produced in the 1970's.
Given the rarity of these decals, we highly recommend that you have a professional restorer properly install your decal.
This is not a simple DYI project, and the quality of the finished job depends on the skill and experience of the installer.
